Pre-Purchase Piano Evaluations
A Marketplace listing, a neighbor's old upright, a piano left behind in an estate — it can be a great deal or an expensive mistake, and it's hard to tell which from a photo. Our technicians come to the piano, go over it top to bottom, and give you a straight answer about its condition and what it would take to make it play the way it should.
- Condition of the soundboard, pinblock, bridges, strings, hammers, action, and case
- Whether it will hold a tuning, and how far off pitch it is now
- Repairs it needs today and what's likely coming down the road
- A realistic estimate of what the piano is worth
- What it would cost to move it to your home
Run the Numbers Before You Buy
The asking price is only the beginning. A "free" or bargain piano still has to be moved, tuned (often more than once), and repaired, and those costs add up fast. We'll put it all on paper — purchase price, moving, tuning, and repairs — so you can see the real total.
Sometimes the piano is a great find and we'll tell you so. Other times that total lands right around the price of a piano in our showroom that's already been inspected, cleaned, and tuned, with no surprises. Either way, you decide with the full picture.
